Back in 1975, Andrew Ritchie, the visionary founder of Brompton, introduced a game-changing innovation: a bike that could effortlessly fold into three parts, revolutionising urban mobility. Today, the Brompton community spans the globe, uniting people from all walks of life who share a love for this "magic carpet for the city." 

Over the years, Brompton has continued to push the boundaries of design, creating lighter and more refined models with an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement. This dedication to progress extends beyond their bicycles and permeates every aspect of their organisation, including their team members. In fact, eight Brompton employees recently had the opportunity to participate in a bespoke Quality Practitioner Course offered by Clear Quality Ltd. 

The term "bespoke" perfectly encapsulates the essence of this unique training program. It signifies a tailored and personalised approach that aligns with Brompton's commitment to excellence. By choosing Clear Quality Ltd as their provider, Brompton ensured that the course content and delivery were specifically customised to address their team's needs and objectives. This bespoke training experience empowered the participants to enhance their skills and knowledge, equipping them to contribute to Brompton's ongoing success by developing and implementing quality processes that will help streamline the creation of the bikes from factory floor to the final sale. 

The course itself provided a comprehensive exploration of quality practices, enabling the Brompton team members to deepen their understanding of industry-leading standards and methodologies. From quality management systems to process optimisation techniques, the participants delved into a wide range of topics that directly impact the performance and reliability of Brompton's bikes. 

Speaking with Nick Coley, the Learning and Development Manager at Brompton he said that Brompton want to work towards upskilling people with knowledge that they can then use practically, stating: “It’s great for people to go on a collection of courses and then come back, you’ve done the training, that’s fantastic, but what we want to work on is actually, what does that mean? How does that help that person? How does that help the business?”  

Investing in their team's professional development and operational excellence, Brompton has taken a proactive step by enrolling their employees in a tailor-made course designed specifically for their company and industry. Through this bespoke training program, facilitated by a skilled Quality specialist, the Brompton team is gaining valuable skills while simultaneously implementing robust quality operations that will improve the systems in place at their factory.  

With a significant number of learners in one cohort, Brompton has arranged for their dedicated trainer to visit their workplace regularly, opting for in-person sessions rather than relying solely on online delivery. When asked about this approach, one of the learners expressed their appreciation for the personal touch provided by Beth, their trainer, who not only shares her knowledge and experiences but also offers hands-on support and guidance 

As for the impact on the company, the delegates manager says they have seen a "great improvement from the team on the line" and an "increased engagement and enthusiasm" from those within the Quality Department.
