ISO 14001 Journey

As a UK-based leading company in energy efficiency, Golden Globe Merchants Ltd takes pride in providing the best eco-friendly home solutions. In 2011, we established ourselves as experts in our field and have since worked on a wide range of government-led home energy schemes to make homes
warmer and reduce energy bills.

Our aim is to play a big part in the government's Net Zero initiative, and we take this responsibility very seriously. To be taken seriously in our line of business and to win tenders, we realised that implementing the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards were crucial. We also found out that ISO was one of the requirements for the local authorities and energy companies. Thus, implementing these standards became the next logical step for us. However, as a first-time implementer, we faced significant challenges. We were unsure of what to expect and questioned whether we had the time and resources to prepare and make it all work.

Thankfully, we received support from Clear Quality Ltd, who guided us throughout the implementation process. Despite the challenges, we successfully implemented both ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, which have brought significant benefits to our organisation. These benefits include an enhanced reputation, reduced costs, an increase in tenders won, and improved relationships with stakeholders, such as customers and suppliers, as we are taken more seriously by local authorities and energy companies.

During the implementation process, we learned several valuable lessons. Firstly, it is essential to work on the standards throughout the year and not just forget about them after the initial implementation.

Secondly, keeping everyone in the company on the same page and reminding them to keep to certain standards is crucial. Finally, we must always be ready and prepared, especially since the surveillance audit. We advise other organizations considering implementing the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards to be methodical in their preparation, remind staff about the importance of keeping to certain standards, and be proud of the achievement, shout it from the rooftops! Implementing these standards has been a challenging but rewarding experience for us, and we hope our success story inspires others to follow suit.
